I reviewed this wine in September 2020 and this bottle was so good that I thought I would update the review. What was a great wine has now become a stupendous wine - a wine of global class and one that provided joy as well as intellectual stimulation. You would be hard press to find a Montrachet of any persuasion that could do better.
Slightly reductive nose, it had a complex nose, fresh and fragrance with hints of citrus, nectarine, grapefruit and flintiness. The body was seductive, seducing drinkers into a Wagnerian realm of ecstasy and orgasmic experience that only a great chardonnay can. Fresh body but creamy at the same time, it was lively, full of energy with fruits being wrapped in layers of sublime acidity that never ended. The finish was chalky and very long.
Drink now or drink now! (or it can go for another 4+ years).

Fruits all from Still youthful at 13 years old! Reductive, matchbox, flinty nose mingling with cool green fruits, cool green fruits and lime. Lean, laser like focus on palate with cleansing acidity, stone fruits, smoky oak, hint of petrol with a flinty finish. It could easily age for another decade.

Humming along brilliantly under screwcap. Complex aromatics of smoke, pure white peach, spice and preserved lemon. Terrific intensity and volume in the mouth. Layered with flavour, finishing with great cut and a finish that drives on and on.
(Blind tasting BYO) Medium-fullish nose. Gently oaky. Minerally impression. Yellow orchard fruit, oyster, spice and reductive gun-powder that is most appealing. Elegant and still youthful. Medium-fullish very balanced and fresh palate. Good grip. Gently oaky and toasty. Yellow apple and pear. Stoney. High acidity. Rich, but just lacking that extra bit of concentration for being absolutely fabolous. Second time with this wine, and as hard to place in Australia as last time in 2016. This is a very good ringer in white Burg tasting. Will probably go on to 2025.

Very youthful and still has a long way to go. It is a wine that snaps everything into focus, much like a Japanese 50mm camera lens. There is no shade of grey here. Clean, laser clarity and very pure. As is, it may not be everyone's cup of tea you like your chardonnay with more fruit so be warned. Match struck and floral nose combined with a racy body that is quite lean. White fruits and melon also thrown in for good measure. And a beautiful finish. Wait for another 5 years.
