A very nice Insignia in a great drinking window with plenty of life ahead. Very concentrated blackberry, blueberry, some chocolate, black licorice, leather. Not as complex as other older Insignia, but damn good. Consistently one of my favorite wines.
Dark purple in color. Blueberry, clove, chocolate on the nose. Strong alcohol on the palate which subsided after awhile. Still seems crazy young, even after 17 years. Maple syrup on the nose and palate. Thick in consistency. Good with the wine soaked lamb chops we ate. Dark fruit flavors - raisin, plum, rum cake. Really hitting its stride three hours after opening.
