  This was a huge surprise to the upside. Like the previous reviewer wrote, I think this bottle is fantastic. Still in possession of a nice dark garnet red with just a few orange-like streaks in the glass. The nose was surprisingly soft yet expressive with really interesting secondary elements of tobacco, dark chocolate and rose petal. It didn't have the typical tar/licorice (that I also love) on some of these wines, which surprised me as some of these non-single vineyard offerings can be a bit abrasive as the fruit dies. Not the case here. Medium tannin to round it out nicely with an elongated and elegant finish with some pleasant cedar and coffee notes lingering. I fully admit to being a single vineyard Barolo snob but this cuvee proved me wrong in this instance.

  Full bodied with nice level of complexity. Aging helped a lot. Needed an hour decant, then dark fruits and some chocolate and spice notes appear with a smooth finish.
