A tasting at Weingut Robert Weil (Kiedrich): Closed, very tightly knit, hard to assess today, presently just sweet fruit and gripping acidity but seems well constructed, very little botrytis (if any), excellent length.

140g of residual sugar and 11g of acidity which balance nicely. Botrytis can be sensed as sweet spice behind the fruit. Great purity but once you put it in the mouth seems like it has some baby fat that it must lose - and will with time.

An outstanding sweet wine from Weil although I prefer Kunstler's Holle Auslese. Medium sweet with 140 g r.s that are nicely balanced by huge acidity of 11g tartaric. It has a high extract and concentration. Needs time to unfold its tremendous potential and complexity

Innocent young riesling, white in colour like an eiswein. Great minerality with wet stones, steel, talcum powder and jasmine florality. Ripe citrus, grapefruit, also candy store and bubblegum notes. Lovely interplay between sweetness and acids, great mouthfeel. Problem is, we (two tasters) detect a mouldy note (like old bread, but definitely not corked) both on the nose and on the palate. It might be a problem, and it doesn't contribute to the enjoyment tonight - therefore a slight caution and a conservative rating. The price is €68 at the domaine, and it's hard to get to buy some.

VdP Rheingau Wine Presentation (Kloster Eberbach): Concentrated, mineral, still keeps its treasures hidden.
