Conistent note with previous bottle in October 2021 but now more completely into its secondary nuances. Still needed time to present. (I do not typically decant red Burdundy of this age). Initially nose was dominated by a forest floor mustiness, with time it showed its Vosne spice, a touch of violets and black fruit that continued on the palate. Medium body. Harmonious with the right amount of acidity to give it lift without poking through the fruit. Fine example of Suchots with a number of years ahead. Outperformed expectations for the vintage and producer.

Drank at Sean and Mary’s goodbye dinner at our house with Chez Panisse takeout. I double decanted a few hours before, then wine opened in glasses over two hour meal. Rich, expressive, lively, spicy, herbal garden profile. Minty. Fresh and energetic, full secondary evolution. Gorgeous aromatics and an absolute pleasure to smell and taste. Very well balanced with fruit and structure, still nervy in a good way. Seems to be going strong, I am guessing will continue to evolve but darn good right now

This bottle helps to restore my faith in red Burgundy (and the wine even beguiled my burgundophobic wife), and it has validated my longstanding belief (on the basis of very slim evidence) that Les Suchots is the perfect 1er cru vineyard. Medium-bodied, light-footed, with a complex woodsy flavor, no tannin, and a strong slash of acidity. The tertiary characteristics suggest that the wine has reached its peak, the acidity suggests that it might last a while longer.

Pretty red fruit with sweet baking spice, coming across as classically Vosne styled. Ripe and fleshy for the vintage (perhaps harvested slightly later than most?) with just enough acidity to retain its freshness. Very good now, but probably little or any upside.

Drinking well now with air. Not the most robust vosne I’ve had but the quality comes through. I’ll revise down my drinking window though. These should be drunk over next 8-9 years IMHO
