Decanted about 30 minutes. A nice ruby red color. Cherries, minerals, pepper, dried herbs, licorice, and scorched earth on the very nice nose. Medium body with ripe, integrated tannins and very nice acidity. Palate shows absolutely no excess weight or overly ripe elements. A very civilized Aussie Syrah. Nice length on the finish with spicy cherries and some dried herbs. This is in prime drinking window.

After bottle was opened about an hour. Medium ruby red color. Cherries, minerals, licorice, with hints of chocolate, fresh ground coffee, and some dried herbs. Medium body with soft, ripe, integrated tannins and good acidity. Very non Australian on the palate. Clean, crisp fruit with no syrupy elements. An Aussie shiraz with no blackberries or blueberries. Think France. Alcohol check reveals 13.5%. Decent length on the finish with the cherries and nice supporting spicy oak.

some mint, some eucalyptus (at the fringes of perception); great blue fruits & tar; some minerals; developing well; as advertised a great wine esp for the price. would buy again; will be interesting to see how my other five bottles age.

(BINDI Bundaleer Shiraz) Bindi DEAL Dear Friends, Speaking of world-class Pinot Noir, from Michael Dhillon at Bindi, this is a deal that’s tough to pass up. Shiraz has become one of the most overpriced genre’s in the world but there are still reasons to get excited and this price is one reason why. If you enjoy Mount Langi Ghiran, Yarra Yering or other Victorian examples of Shiraz (more appropriately “Syrah” in this case), you will find much to like here. This wine is called Bindi’s 2003 Hermitage for a reason - its composition (like all the Bindi wines) is focused on the varietal and terroir (not the oak) and it is built for the cellar. Unlike most consumer’s perception of Shiraz, this wine hails from the northern reaches of the cooler districts of Victoria and it is picked with low-alcohol and even-keeled balance in mind. In early youth, the Bundaleer shows a character that has the ripeness and minerality of Hermitage in a very intense vintage but with bottle age, the cool-climate character takes over and this is an absolute steal of a deal. For those of you buying to drink right away, the Bundaleer requires a few years of patience and you must be willing to cellar this wine for its intrigue to emerge - this is not a drink-now proposition which makes this price even more interesting as most of the world’s best aging wines cost the most. Made in very small quantities and hardly distributed, the Bundaleer is as rare as Bindi’s Pinot Noir (I believe there were only 40 cases of this wine imported to the US): For background on Bindi and Michael Dhillon, see: http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/class-in-a-glass-is-all-in-the-grass/2005/07/24/1122143732119.html ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at the deal price with perfect provenance 2003 Bindi Shiraz “Bundaleer” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus9931

Drinking incredibly well. Not a typical aussie shiraz. Some nice secondary notes, middle weight and nice finish. Great QPR
