Decanted for about an hour. This is a power wine, brooding on the nose, plums, blackberries, coffee, and at 15%, the alcohol is pushing through somewhat. The palate is also powerful, gritty tannins, sweet fruit, but still very smooth, the alcohol does not push through here. A big wine with lots to give, but still I felt that it was not overly pushy, in balance. Excellent! But I don't think this will last for very many years more, drink within 3 years.
Decanted for about 15 mins. The nose is rather reticent, elegant, having black olives and red fruit, a bit reminiscent of strawberry, and a slight hint of smoke. The palate is elegant as well, with some sweetness, quite a bit of tannins, bit of licorice, red fruits, good acidity, finesse and refined. This may be on the fruity side, not austere, but it holds itself with poise. Yes, Prima Donna this is. Very good now and will get better with some years in the cellar. Delicious!
Visiting L'Oustal Blanc (La Liviniére): Tasted at the winery. 60% Grenache, 40% Syrah, the Syrah is in oak. Beautiful floral notes, blackberries, really elegant aromas, velvety on the palate with beautiful fruit. I really liked this!
