  • 46% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon. This has settled down nicely and come together. Nose of briar and cherry potpourri, the potpourri being due to the perfume like cherry quality combined with a very strong spice component. The red cherry fruit is tart and dominant on the palate although the savory of the mourvedre provides a nice canvas. Fairly shifty on the palate with a touch of heat or herbaceousness moving in and out. The spice is again strong but mingles very well with the red fruit and earth tones. Some of this is oak influence no doubt, but the faint garrigue notes that integrate with it so well make me think there is either a touch of seed or stem influence. Tart cherry compote sums up the palate well. Medium finish with well hidden tannin that is lengthened nicely by the acid. Pretty composed stuff here with a few nice angles. Will age well in the short term. 90+. 2011-2015
