Nicely balanced Syrah. It's really coming together. Still dark fruit, smoke, and meat on the nose, but now there's a little bit of tobacco and lead. Flavors are primarily layers of black fruit--plums and blackberries--with a fair amount of tannins and a nice pop of bright acidity. Long finish tends to battle between the fruit and tannins. Has some good potential to sit in the bottle.

(Tamarack Cellars Syrah Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Mountain) An aromatically expressive wine with blueberry, floral notes, mineral notes, and a light meaty streak. The palate is loaded with blue fruit flavors and grainy tannins

Nice match with grilled lamb chops, with its rich dark fruit, smoky and savory notes. Still a little hard on the finish. Try again 2019.

Similar notes. Great wine. Lots of black fruit and smoke with some bbq accents. Drinking really well right now.

Similar notes, but the wine is better integrated and the tannins are less prominent. Really drinking well after a couple of hours in the decanter.

Exploring the Walla Walla Valley; 5/24/2013-5/27/2013 (Walla Walla, WA): Smoky and meaty nose. Smooth through the palate with mostly dark berries, but also a hint of the nose. Pleasant finish. Great QPR.
