  • A full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, in the value priced aisle. Just a 2010, it could not have spent much time in the cask or barrel. But still, it tastes pretty good. By no means overpowering, we get our money's worth. Looks big and dark. There is a spicy, herbal fragrance, that continues into the flavor profile. The adequate mostly red fruit is fresh and vibrant. Almost full bodied. There is a cedar flavor along side the oak. Rich and concentrated. Kind of dry in the mouth, while maintaining it's balance, and hiding the alcohol content. Very satisfying. Almost none of the non fruit flavors we often get with young Cabernet. Has a typical South American finish with leather and graphite.

  • Tasting Argentinian Wines at WineStyles, Columbia, SC. (WineStyles Columbia, SC): Aside from Nouveau Beaujolais, this is my first taste of a 2010 red wine, albeit a Southern Hemisphere offering. I'm typically not a fan of early release red wines, as they usually have less than 100% malolactic fermentation which gives them that sour milk acidity that I don't like. This one is actually pretty good. It seems to have settled out nicely, and although slightly bitter, tastes like Cabernet. It is not going to win any awards for layers and complexity. It is pretty simple, but still well past medium bodied. There is some red raspberry, and dark cherry fruit flavors that taste pretty good, There are some raw tannins, but nothing overpowering. I'm actually pretty impressed.
