Smokey and meaty meaty nose. Touch of black fruit on the palate but more dominated by smokey tar and a touch of leather. Almost like smokey bacon? Actually rather enjoyable.
Would like to have more and allow it to open up as I only had a single glass as part of a wider Piedmont tasting.

Here, I found mineral-infused black cherry fruit with dried florals, dusty soil tones, savory spices and lifting minerality. On the palate, soft enveloping textures were contrasted by a twang of zesty orange peel, along with bright strawberry, tart wild berries, brisk acidity and spice. The finish was medium in length, as lingering acidity and tart berry tones slowly faded. I found this to be one of the least interesting wines of the tasting, as its acid and structure seemed to have dominated its fruit, making it hard to image that the Villero will ever mature into a better expression than it was showing on this night.

Very supple and feminine for a Barolo. Had notes of mint and anise on the nose which got stronger over several hours. Started out light on the tongue. But after 30 mins. Opened with notes of wild strawberry and aged Leather. After an hour the plums and acid came out balancing it nicely. Still can age for a few more years. But definitely in its prime.

Pale, bright ruby with orange/brick tints; reticent nose at first that after time in the glass opened up a bit, with decidedly floral elements with the first hints of secondary tar/earth notes. This showed best on the palate, tons of red fruit, beautifully balanced acidity and tannins, very elegant, some very faint licorice/anise and tar notes on the finish. Nice to check in on a bottle making the transition from a young, primary wine to one showing hints of maturity. Several bottles left, don't touch for another 3-4 years.

Oh dear. This was oxidised, as though it had been open a week.
