Ok aged cali cab, wouldn't trade it for a big overdone young one on any night but nothing special, tasted like the oak was too much for the underlying fruit and structure but i may have this wrong and could have just been something else like oxidation, mouthfeel was good
Decanted an hour before serving. Medium ruby with a bit of amber at the rim. Lovely nose of cabernet fruit, vanilla, and a touch of eucalyptus. Same profile on the palate; nice contrasts among the (still good) fruit, smooth tannins, oak, and the mint/eucalyptus element. Meduim finish. Outstanding mature Napa cab and a real treat, though less vibrant than a few years ago. Will hold for a while in a good cellar, but definitely not getting better. Drink up.
Dark red, very slightly garnet-edged. Nose of dried prunes, fresh plum, cocoa powder, milk (no mint, no herbaceous element at all, a surprise). Medium tannin, medium acids, Fat and fruit-driven in the mouth, with some persistent smooth tannin that keeps it interesting. Complexity is lacking, it's all about the deep fruit here. Finish lingers, helped with the still persistent tannin, soft tannin that is. The lactose quality is very distracting. Bottle #2 of two.
Drank a 1.5 liter at a pool party with friends. Wonderfully integreated tannis with a nose of Dust, leather, rasberry, and black currant. A bit hot when first opened, but after decanting for about 30 minutes, it disapated and the balance of it's vegital and fruit componets were obvious. Green pepper, white pepper, and violets on the finish unfolded. Fantastic Cab......I think it still have 5 to 7 more years to develop.
