  • Pop and pour. Delicious, dry, floral, slightly bitter, packed with flavor. I'd prefer a tiny bit more acid, but this is good.

  • We have loved this wine across the decades. It is about as dry as you can get a white wine, which does result in alcohol of 14.4%, which may be too high for some. The nose and taste of spices and lychee nut tastes, along with the perfect acid balance make this the absolute perfect food wine. The appearance is straw-colored. We like it with Asian food, but it is a stunning when it is served with Thanksgiving turkey or a great quality ham for any occasion. For under $20, this really has great QPR, highly recommend. I can see if not accompanied by the proper food pairing, that folks that just drink the wine for wine's sake might not care for this. This wine is all about food pairing.

  • Appearance: Clear, pale gold, sheeting.
Nose: Clean, medium intensity and fully developed lychee and exotic fruits
Palate: Dry to off dry, medium acidity, super high & troubling alcohol on palate, medium+ bodied, medium intensity gooseberry, kiwi, orchard fruits. Palate overwelmed by alcohol domination even through course of 2 hours repeat tasted. Somewhat subdued day 2.
    Barely acceptable quality.

  • This wine never fails to perfectly compliment holiday fare, particularly turkey and ham. It is spicy, as one would expect from a Gewurz, but this is dry (as the bottle label states twice) and perfect acid and alcohol balance. It had a lot of different layered tastes - we tasted a lot of lychee nut, citrus, and spice and it had a slightly better than medium finish. No oak, but it would have ruined an otherwise food-friendly wine. We paid about $17 for this bottle and got several to get us through the holidays. It stood up well to our turkey dinner, which was impressive given that I spice and herb-rubbed the turkey and our sides were made with a number of more slightly exotic tastes.

  • Crisp yet fruity with nose of lychee and pear that continues thru the palate and lengthy finish. Refreshing yet not too lean. Went very well with Chinese food.

(Gundlach Bundschu Gewurztraminer) #1; COLOR-golden; NOSE-some orange blossom and banana; a little spicy as well; like an imaginary "sweet" sea salt; PALATE-this is extremely good; great acidity on the back-end; extremely well made; I love the baked apple flavor on the attack; then an enormous amount of intriguing spices on the outer layers (white pepper, clove, white flowers); this is showing extremely well; I really like the grip of this wine...it does attack your palate; in a blind tasting, I would think it was an Alsatian wine; an exceptional effort; GV-91
