Consumed this because it showed as being past drinking window in my drinkability report. Not even close to being true. This was still young, fresh and vibrant. A quite serious Pinot Bianco, truth be told, which is typical of Lageder's whites. A nice minerality on the nose. On the palette a hint of white pepper along with peach and pear. Surprising weight in the mouth and a very nice, long finish.

7 days in Italy.; 6/16/2012-6/22/2012 (Italy): Alois claims 5 years of good drinking for his Pinot Bianco. Creamier touch in the nosee. shows more mature fruit aromas. not mature, but just not the brightness of the '11. loses a touch of the brightness off the palate as well. Still a young wine, just a shade different than the '11. A little mineral licorice.

Sponsored tasting at Alois Lageder’s “Ansitz Löwengang”: The bottle was sealed with Stelvin cap closure. The wine was very pale golden in colour. It was not overly expressive on the nose, mainly showing grapefruit and some minerality. On the palate medium-bodied wine was slightly spicy, with grapefruit and apple flavours, slightly tart medium-level acidity, and with good length. A solid entry-level Pinot Blanc, though I preferred the Haberle Pinot Bianco 2010, which comes at a comparatively small mark-up, but is considerably richer and more expressive. 86+

Surprisingly flabby and insignificant, but not a faulty bottle. Will try again, as I really like Lageders wine and am very fond of Pinot Bianco from Alto Adige.

Nose of minerals, flint and schist. In the mouth nice structure with soaring acidity. A far cry from the previous bottle I tried last year.
