I fine the Carlisle Vineyard to consistently be the most elegant of Mike's wines. I think this is because of the restraint and balance, without sacrificing flavor. This was true with this bottle, the first of the '09 version that I've opened. Actually drank better the second day as the wine unfolded a bit. Core blue/black fruit, silky tannins. minerality in the backdrop. A non-wine drinker in the group commented "this is awesome". I think with 1-2 more years this will go somewhere special.
Full rich concentrated nose of blackberry fruit, dark chocolate and spice. Rich luscious fruit with bright juicy acidity. Plenty of youthful energy and structure. Long bright fruit and spice filled finish.
