Bottle #9 of 10. Mind bendingly good. Spicy, flashy, hugely red and purple fruited, creamy, great acidity, even some tannins, and supernally delicious. Yum with a capital Y. Disappeared with dinner guests. Right up there as far as great Carlisle Zins.
One of six at a party, so no detailed notes. Immediately after opening, it was thin, hot, and port-like (did I open a Martinelli by mistake?). After 30 to 45 minutes of air, however, it came around. Mostly red fruits, with a rich texture and a solid finish. Probably at its peak.
Bottle #8 of 10. Pnp. This bottle at the very beginning of fade, and quite different from my last note. Deep rich raspberry and classic Mike Office signature on opening, becoming more crisply red fruited (surprisingly) at the half hour mark, then cracking up to sour fruit, bitterness near the tail end, and heat on the finish at the hour mark. Superb still, with creamy fruit, even at the end, but this bottle definitely declining. Goodbye old friend!
