We made a mistake a didn't decant this, it really should have been. Our initial impression of the wine were neutral but in about a half the wow factor kicked in. The wine had nice aromas on the nose of tar, leather and some faint dark fruit. At first the wine did not have much fruit to the palate some tar and leather with a finish of licorice but slowly the fruit started coming forward, initially blackberry then tart cherry and cola. As the wine sat the finish became sweeter and longer. The wine probably would be helped by another year in the cellar but with decanting and airing for an hour it makes for a great experience.
