Enjoyed on a Friday night with some take out lamb shank from local favourite Toucheh. In a gorgeous drinking window, rich dark fruit core, nice acidity and balance, full body with a lush, silky texture. Excellent wine.

Needed about 2 hours to really open up. Soft tannins, very lush texture. Predominant dark fruit notes, plums, blackberries and dark cherries, with baking spice and pepper heat in secondary and tertiary layers. Not too much oak, quite elegant and food friendly.

I will always love the Ramey RC in just about any vintage with 07 and 05 being my favorites. I had the 09 about 6 years ago and I wrote that it was lighter than others. Not this time. This was big and bright and right in the wheel house of other RC's. More in line with a fine Cote Rotie.

Popped and slow ox'd for around 2 hours. Dark color. Nose of black berry fruit, slightly smoky and spicy, hint of black olive with some purple floral undertones. Very nice. Similar flavors on the palate with mostly black cherry and plums, smoked meat and spice. Medium+ acid and tannin. Full bodied but balanced and no real signs of heat. I enjoyed this quite a bit.
