Big bold and Briary. The fruit is huge with dark berries throughout. the finish is sweet but dry with tongue-tingling Oak tannin. I have found this is quite good with heavy meaty pizza (or rare Steak). Drink now or keep for 5+ years in proper storage.

Ruby red tinged with orange. Plumy, raspberry aroma & lightly peppered. Fruiti-licious after allowing it breath longer. Late appearance of dark chocolate & tobacco. Fruity flavour of soft sour tannin with medium finishing.

Big river is a big wine. There is a lot of briary red fruits up front and a tight middle; the end is oaky, smoky, and a smooth tannin finish. This wine needs some more time to develop-- at least a year or two.

As previous tasting notes have said, this is not, at first sip a knock your socks off, full-bodied, typical California Zin. Instead it's more nuanced, thinner or chiseled, with tart fruits dominating. But, left open overnight In the bottle, it develops a full some, round mid-palate in which the big red/purple/black fruits come forth -- and then it blew my sox off! Basically, this is a wine that can be drunk now, a bit tightly wound, with rich food, or will reward another several (5+?) years of patience.

Keeps getting better and better. Same delicate profile, with some nice nuances emerging. Aromas of raspberry and cranberry, with hints of citrus, anise, and pepper. Bright and pure on the palate, with fresh raspberry interlaced with citrus, anise, licorice, and Indian spice. Nicely structured -- this should age effortllessly for quite some time. Need to keep my hands off my last bottle . . . .
