First experience with the Pignolo grape. Deep purple color. Nose spicy and herbal with some oak a--very much like a big Cali zinfandel. Taste is a sweetish bing cherry/ blackberry upfront with some drying tannins (at 1 hour of air) and then a serious wallop of alcohol. (so I checked the label--says 16%--a personal "best"). The finish was shortened and flat--effect of the alcohol perhaps. Given the depth of other flavors perhaps this will tone down later.

Deep dried black and blue fruit, rich, ethereal, with a touch of tea leaf, and dried herb. A lot going on here. Drank over two days.
