Really delightful vino aged to a perfect place. Elegant floral bouquet upon opening. really improved with decant. Both bottles exceptionally similar. Luscious dark cherry with blackberry. No tannins. Smooth.

Immediate floral upon opening with limited sediment. First impression was a bit sweet while being tart. No tannins. It seriously improved with decant and was stunningly CAB delicious after about an hour.

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. pulled the wrong bottle by mistake. was intending to have the 1996 which is sinking into oblivion. nevertheless, glad to have caught this one in time. i was holding onto this bottle for sentimental reasons in memory of our visit to the winery in 2001. judging from notes of other members, well stored bottles are still holding up well. however, should have paid more attention to the preponderance of notes in recent years indicating that the wine was in decline. surprising, given the overall excellent quality of wine produced in napa in this particular vintage. this bottle still shows class with a bordeaux like profile. it is a testament to the unique wine making process done completely in the cave to avoid exposure to light as well as the legendary skill of the winemaker, Dimitri Tcheliistcheff. yet, the wine is a bit tired. this may be an example of why half bottles need closer attention to their development over time than do 750's. need to find an occasion soon to try the '96 and '97 side by side.

Smooth, perhaps past drink date. Still palatable/drinkable. Low tannins.
