4th Saturday Group brown bagger (M/M thelostverse): Quite reticent, I didn't get much in the way of aromatics with this wine even after I went back to it a couple of times. The palate was bright and focused on account of good underlying acidity. Flavors of lemon and citrus fruits. Guessed Sauv Blanc. Others liked this quite a bit than I.
A wine with which I am unfamiliar. A producer with which I am well familiar. I struggled to determine the flaw but I believe the bottle to be severely heat damaged. Smells of old stale olive juice and moldy socks. Has utterly no structure, no acidity and no fruit. Just dead. Screw top.
Unscrewed and poured, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, green apple, peach, and wet stone. Palate: Medium bodied, creamy mouth-feel, citrus fruit up-front, drying tannins mid-palate with nice minerality. Finish: Medium length sense of slightly tart citrus fruit.
Siduri/Novy at the Dallas Zoo (The Dallas Zoo, Giants of the Savannah Exhibit): I didn't see this poured and assumed from the name that it would be a sparkling wine, but it is not. Per Adam, there did not seem to be a more appropriate name for this style of wine. Slightly copper hued in the glass. A touch of oxidation on the nose. Medium bodied with a certain savory richness. Interesting.
