Riesling Revival with Bear Dalton of Specs (French Alliance Houston): Wow! Bad bottle. It smelled like rotten Grand Marnier with a little smokey leather. Pretty wicked tasting. Bear had Zach run over to Specs to pick up an 2001 Blanck Furstentum instead. It was much better.

Elegant, well-structured wine that took its time in opening up. Distinct impression that there is way more in here that will emerge with time. Nice lychee of all things, since this was not a Gewurtz. But there was peach in there as well. Will buy this one.

Memorial Day Wine Party (My House): Comes alive with just a few swirls of the glass and keeps on going, beautiful color, minerals and citrus on the nose. Petrol comes and goes, and towards the end of the bottle a gorgeous white peach note appears that just won't quit. One of the most elegant wines I've had recently, and worth every penny of $25, but while I'm not big on the 100 pt scale for rating wines, I'm not sure I'd say it was 96 point wine. That said, I'd drink this again any day of the week.

Excellent mineral laden nose, with some citrus and peaches coming through. Quite different to the "ordinary" Blanck riesling tasted immediately before. Amazing stuff. Huge elegance. Pure terroir.

Deep golden colour. Fully mature, lots of petrol on the nose. Possibly slightly past its best, but still very good.
