  • Much better than the previous bottle. Perhaps I drank it with just the right amount of air this time. Decanted at 3:30 and drunk over the next 4-5 hours. It started out seeming thin and a little harsh but with 15-30 minutes of air it rounded out and started to increase in depth of flavor and richness. Dark garnet color. Smokey, peppery, plummy and black raspberry along with a touch of pine needles on the nose. Very elegant mouthfeel. Somewhat meaty finish, like grilled sausage. Very much worth the $15 I paid for it in 1988/89. Lovely!

  • Decanted at 4 pm and drunk ve 6 hours. Medium garnet color with just slight bricking. Nose is very subdued throughout with some coffee and dark fruit and just a little flowery perfume. Mouthfeel is round and soft but not very "chewy", lacking some texture. Pleasant tobacco, plum and cassis flavors but not too deep or complex. Medium aftertaste. Better with grilled steak than without.
