  • Dark orange color. Past its prime since there is almost zero fruit left in it but still very powerful, too powerful to my liking. Will carafe 3-4 hours and see if the alcool blends a bit more and stop overpowering the fruit and tanins.

  • Dark core with crimson rim. Aromas are restrained with some tumble weed, rubber and raspberry. Juicy and earthy with burnt tire, dark chocolate and raspberry flavors. The tannins have thinned out and the acidity has kept the wine alive. It’s a little harsh. Would be good with cassoulet.

  • Day 1 notes: Funky exciting nose, but the palate was so overwhelmingly gamey, sweaty, cured ham, and smoky we had to put it down after one glass. No real fruit to speak of. Interesting but no pleasure whatesoever. Going to see if 24 hours of air helps.

Day 2: less severe but still pretty much the same. No thanks.

  • I think Darth's review below pretty well summarizes this wine. Smooth, flavorful (though not intensely so) pleasant and polished. Just a tad hot, just a tad lacking in energy. I am inclined to rate it a bit higher as the casual wine drinkers it was shared with really loved it. 90-91ish

  • Southern Rhone session. Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purple colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of black cherries, blackberries, chocolate oak, black pepper. Developing.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, high alcohol (15.5%), high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, blackberries, brambles, chocolate oak, black pepper. Medium+ finish.
Good quality. Very boringly polished style though. Nothing to fault. Very uninteresting too. Hopefully may develop some interesting nuances with another 3-4 years.
    65% Grenache, 35% Syrah.
