I brought this out of the cellar to have on our trip to its home. The cork was in exceptional condition, no staining except for the bottom and came out cleanly. The wine has resolved its tannins but is still a red colour to the rim and is looking very youthful. It was somewhat similar to the 2010 Obsidian we had the night before in that it is showing bold black fruit characters (Not totally surprising seeing the two vineyards are almost neighbors). The Larose was however showing some increased complexity and looks to have more potential upside. 94 today but once it moves into its secondary phase I expect it will gain 2-3 more points.

Tasted at 8 years old, and decated one hour prior. Deep ruby colur with light fading around the rim of the glass. Cassis and mocha on the nose with tobacco notes. Has big mouthfeel and great palate length, with strong tannins giving structure and a dry, almost dusty taste. Malbec influece very obvious. Mocha again apparent in the taste, with leather and hints of mint and cloves on the back palate. A big win that has at least another decade of cellaring potential.

Superb complexity and finish, this wine still needs at least two hours decanting. It has come together well considering a blend of 6 Bordeaux grape varieties. Long life ahead, will taste again in 3-5 years.

Enjoyable, nice medium body bordeaux style, but lacking energy or complexity.
