  • PnP. Very good showing, fully mature though still very much in its preferred window. Little to no sign of age on the medium ruby core. Soil, plum, the occasional barn note, some sage and forest, etc. Lovely medium/med+ body with exceptional balance and good+ persistence. A joy. Hard to believe I paid just $22 on release; way over-delivered that on that. Easily highly recommended

  • Drinking beautifully with a bit of air. Relatively savory compared to, say, the preceding vintage, but lovely balance and, I’m inclined to say, finesse to the basic aromatic and flavor profile.

  • opened at 5:30 and double decanted. Reductive at first, almost unpleasant. But blows off and this is a lovely wine, in the end. Served alongside a 2005 Breton Perrieres and this wine comes off as a bit rustic next to the Breton, and with noticeable green notes. But in a charming way. Perfectly balanced, harmonious in its expression of aroma and flavor, pungent and actually more expressive on the nose than the Breton, but not as deep or detailed. Delicious, typical, satisfying wine.

  • By the bottle at Chambers in NYC. Nose is fresh and lifted, strawberries, clay and gravel. Palate is very pretty, tannins resolved, red berries, slight strawberry licorice, slight floral notes, crunchy and juicy, medium body, medium finish. Very pretty, great with the hanger steak and pork chop.

  • PnP. Dark and funky - beautiful dark fruits - blackberry and black cherry and a bit of black currant. Nice funk - horsey and bell pepper, with a hint of leafy tobacco. Earthy. Pepper and white pepper. There’s a hint of candied fruit that I think is the lovely 2010 purity. Palate isn’t as open yet - but it’s getting there - dark and funky and murky. Lovely texture - soft and almost creamy - plush and a little grainy with resolved tannins. Dark fruit, earth, leather, funk, tobacco. There is a real Seve on entry for a bit. Good acid and excellent balance - finish is long and complex and funky and herbal/tobacco. The first of the older Baudrys I bought recently and I love it. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-17.5/20.
