Deepest ruby, black core - restrained inviting aromas of black fruit, lovage, licorice, and pencil shavings. An explosion of delight: blackberry, licorice, Dutch drop, wood notes wrapped in luscious fresh acidity and ripe tannins. Medium(+) body, elegant, clean. Firmly structured with a focused and long finish, minutes I opened this later at night and this P-L knocked me off my socks. 93+ - an developing.

After reading the reviews of this wine, I had very low expectations for it. But I find it to be an unqualified success—provided it’s decanted for at least an hour. My initial impression was of hot rubber and weeds. After an hour in the decanter, the fruit started to emerge, and after an hour and a half, it was singing. It’s certainly ready to drink, but I don’t think another 5 years would hurt it if stored properly.

Drinking very well right now. While not as much energy as a couple of years ago - the wine is balanced with notes of mineral, some of the pencil shavings mentioned earlier by others and a bit of raisin.
