  • Glass: Zalto Universal
Drunk over multiple days. Still needs time and air. Drinks nicely now, but has potential for some more decades.
Not much more to add to my pervious note, except that it is for sure a declassified Spätlese with high must weight. The texture is creamy and very dense. Beautiful and powerful wine that can handle a lot of different food. Very long.

  • Glass: Zalto Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over multiple days. Intense nose with salty, citrus notes and some petrol. Tension and energy. Nice. Same picture on the palate. Racy acidity, that seemed better integrated than my last bottle. Lots of tension and energy and a wonderful pure, clean fruit and great, chalky mineral core. Will evolve for at least another decade. Long, fine and juicy finish. 91+

  • No notes taken. Classic Zilliken with a bit unbalanced, vintage typical high acidity. Drinks well now, but will benefit from 5+ years of bottle age.

  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Riesling
    Bottle drunk over 3 days.
I had a fantastic 2010 Egon Müller Scharzhofberg Kabinett the other day and this Rausch Kabinett is certainly a different style. The Scharzhofberg was a Kabinett in the best sense, airy and light as a feather, yet with lots of racy acidty. The Rausch Kabinett seems to be a downgraded Spätlese, much heavier in style.
I guess this bottle is slightly tainted. Nose is muted and not as fruity as expected. On the palate off-dry, racy acidity, good minerality but also muted fruit and some tiny bit of wet cardboard. I guess this bottle is borderline. Wine still makes fun, especially with food (like on day 1 and 2), but the more I focus on it, I think it is very slightly corked. Bad luck today. Not rated.

  • Nice development with intense aromas and flavours of honey- and pineapple pastilles, as well as a hint of strawberries in the aftertaste. Richly sweet and concentrated for a kabinett, with lemony acidity to match. The freshest liveliness of its youth is gone, the first stage of maturity is here, and it should reach full maturity around 2025.
