Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 89 points

  • Impressing appearance with moderate alc - 12 vol %, intense nose minerality, firestone, fresh gras. Long and consistent aftertaste, demanding but captivating each moment, would match fine with pasta or so, was tasted solo. Opened it the night before. How high is flying the Saar Riesling Alte Reben then... breakup will follow soon, one bottle is waiting. 89 pts

  • Bright golden color, slightly more evolved than two years ago. Definitely in a weightier style for a Saar Riesling, lots of fruit with a slightly sweet finish but balanced by quite high acidity. Still primary. Good plus. Drink or hold.

  • Drank over 3 days. Light golden colour, on first day shy on the nose and a bit closed. A hint of sweetness, although this is dry. Over the next two days, the wine opened up. Nose showed some peach and pure Riesling fruit on the palate. On the third day a pronounced mineral finish appeared, with a hint of bitterness. Kept for three days without problems. A pretty wine thath will develop during the next three years. Now it should be decanted.

(Van Volxem Saar Estate Riesling) Nose of mineral, apple and spice with a really focused fruit aspect with the minerality being in the background. The palate is full of fruit. Very round, Nice wine.
