UNP. Color dark straw. Nose has slatey fruit w a hint of botrytis. Swishing shows acidity but this is is transitioning (I think) to the creamy version - although there is a little spritz at first this seems to blow off overnight. Whatever sugar there is is definitely buried under an acid cloak. Feinherb in 2010 I think that with more time that the acids will esterify and this will be wonderful. Will wait at least 5-10 to try again

Slate, lime, and loads of acidity. Very green, and without any richness or (non-lime) fruit. Hollow in the mid-palate and finishes somewhat acerbic. Begging for some fruit or sweetness.

This was just great. Great flavor intensity and ripe flavors but balanced by vibrant (but not excessive) acidity. Just a hint of sweetness; finishes dry. I preferred this to the Donnhoff GG I had last week -- just as much intensity of flavor, but without the weight. Will last a long time but no reason not to drink now.

(Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett halbtrocken) Light yellow color; tart apple, nectarine nose; tasty, very tart nectarine, tart apple, mineral palate with cut, definition and medium-plus acidity; medium-plus finish 91+ points
(Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken) ($23.00) “2010 isn’t a vintage for dry wines,” Johannes acknowledges. Yet this wine with its sterling track record of excellence over the last ten vintages tastes dry in ’10. It’s two-thirds in steel and one-third in Fuder, 50% sponti, and 98°, which is of course serious Auslese. It’s a cousin to Strub’s Paterberg this year, a spicy minty torque-ridden powerhouse, with garrigue-y finish.
