  • Colorado Memorial Day Tasting; 5/26/2023-5/27/2023 (Longmont, Colorado): Dark Ruby in color. Boysenberry and cranberry on the nose. On the palate, there isn't a lot of complexity - mostly monolithic dark fruit and some unusual fruit notes. Tasted blind, I immediately wondered if it was even Portuguese. While not unpleasant to drink, there is something missing here.

  • What a remarkable bottle of wine. Drinking like it was brand new. Would never think this was 20 years old. Seems like it could easily last another 20. And if I didn't know it was a Heitz, I could have easily been convinced it was a true vintage Port. I only had the privilege of purchasing 2 of these bottles on a tasting room visit back in 1997. Drank 1 bottle back in the early 2000's which was spectacular. Been waiting to try this last bottle, and it did not disappoint. Really a fantastic wine. Wish I had more. Drinking great not, but should certainly maintain, or even improve over time. If you ever have the opportunity to purchase / try this wine, please take advantage of the opportunity.
