Community Tasting Notes (55) Avg Score: 90.6 points

  • Deep, deep purple, tones of crimson and orange at the brim. Heavy legs, viscous. I love the nose, its all that black and purple fruit you love, blackberry, cedar, beautiful oak, espresso, it hits all the happy notes with depth. The nose would make me go 93 - 94 however the palate is just not as evolved and shifted. Starts with blackberries intertwines with some light bell pepper notes, tart currants, vanilla, moving towards baking spice, white pepper, and coffee notes on the mid, nice acidity surprisingly. The finish is quite long, and velvety tannins just ride with the fruit and spices. There's a lot going on here and your excited as to where it can go. Yet, over a night it simplifies. The emphasis shifts as the currants disappear, the bell pepper disappears, spiced noted evaporate. So less complex if that can be a thing other than the coffee becoming more espresso/cocoa. Maybe that's all the age kicking in, yet last bottle, and it made me think and concentrate on what was there. Maybe there's something to be said for that. My 91.

  • - Crimsom color and aromas of oak, chocolate and dusty. It's balanced and has flavours of black currant, blackberry, chocolate and vanilla with a medium body. Narrow texture with a medium finish.

  • Wife and I still love this wine. Pop and pour at the Hollywood Bowl, only needed a 1/2 hour to start to open - good fruit black currant and blackberry with a little spice, with some espresso and chocolate finish... just a hint of vanilla oak... decent finish, not much mid palate but for the price paid solid wine.... in a good place...

  • Still enjoy this wine though appears to be starting its decline... So time to finish off the bottles. It still has good color and fruit which are much more integrated though not much oak or vanilla tones from previous tastes. Not much mid palate and a decent finish. Drank immediately after opening ... Will see how it drinks tomorrow. Definitely an 'easy drinker'. Day 2, more smooth today, less fruit but picked up some of those oak & vanilla hints I love. Not much mid palate & short finish but still very good, paired great with pasta...still has a pulse.

(BERINGER NAPA CABERNET SAUVIGNON) #1; COLOR-obnoxiously dark; NOSE-heavy Oak, black cherry, little cinnamon; TASTE-lot of upfront fruit, cherry, raspberry reduction sauce on the mid-palate to the finish, good balance, solid bottle, slightly over-oaked, but not obscene, some dark chocolate coming through on the long finish, good bottle for the price point; WS-92; GV-90
