  • Very interesting acidity. Raspberries and -- grass? Herbs? Difficult for me to pin down, but I like it. Nicely balanced and matured.

This is my first Midsummer Cellars taste. Decades ago I met Joe Heitz at his winery and he told me about his son Rollie -- I've been waiting to taste this wine for longer than he has been making it!

  • Another impressive effort from Midsummer! Dark purple and garnet in color, deep and elegant. Black currant, blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and licorice aromas surrounded by notes of cedar, tobacco, coffee with nutty and chalky undertone, backed by great heat and intensity. Medium to full bodied with black cherry, blueberry, currant and dark plum on the attack structured by extremely silky tannin with bright and fresh acidity. With lighter weight and soft tannin, this wine perfectly combines power with elegance. Very long finish showing layers of fruit with plum and cherry lingering, stimulated by complex components of cedar, mocha, tea leaves and dark chocolate, finishing with beautiful caramel and chalk.
