Opaque purple color, exquisite earthy aroma, and a well-balanced palate are the hallmarks of this well-made wine from southern France. Layers of blackberry, cherry, mushroom, and forest floor appear on the nose and follow through on the palate. Black pepper, clove, and raw meat further complement the fruit. The structure is firm with low/medium acidity and low tannins and the medium length finish caps everything nicely. Excellent wine, excellent QPR, and an excellent companion to roasted lamb.
old, caramelized, dusty...chalking up to a bad bottle as I just bought from a wine store to try because I like the 2012 so much...must of not been stored properly. Cork was in great condition....so doesn't appear to be heat damage.
Back up to greatest value for weeknight house wine ever. Great texbook rhone flavors with lots of complexity. I just want to keep swirling it in my mouth. Long finish, just a real pleasure and under $20. Again, not sure where Parker came up wiht 96 points (although I don't know Rhone well enough to judge) but this is a great deal.
Deep purple color with a nose of raspberry compote, sage, and roasted meat leads into a fruit forward medium full body. The palate has both dark and blue fruits with some forest floor. Finish lasts 25 seconds. This is enjoyable now with some air. I think this will continue to integrate and improve with age.
