Primitive (by which I mean simple, as if it were not a blend: 75 % Malbec, 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Syrah, 5 % Tannat) but rich, quite grapy, mouth-filling (a compliment. at least for a while; then one tires of the wine and it becomes mouth-filling enough to make one want to spit it out). Good for ribs slathered in as much sauce as red as the wine is red. One and done (i.e., don't buy two bottles of this), worth trying and then trying to forget.

It is a safe buy for me here, decently priced, offer good value for the money. I prefer the 2010 vintage with its precise flavors and balance, but this one is not bad at all. I've enjoyed it on a Saturday BBQ party and it does the job by all means.

Consistent with my prior note from several months ago. Has a very attractive Rhone-like nose of plums, violets, vanilla and spice. Full-bodied and quite rich with a plush mouthfeel. Lots of blackberry and ripe plum character. Very well balanced with a nice, underlying acidity to keep it lively. The long, fruity finish ends on a mesquite note and with a slight chalkiness - again reminiscent of a very good Cotes du Rhone. More interesting than a plain Malbec and fantastic value at just $13. 50+5+12+15+8=90

A bit rough around the edges but otherwise excellent accompaniment to our grilled half a chicken!
