  • Last note was on 17 Jan 2016. Since then, much remains the same as my previous experience. The color is still an intense, dark red and there is no sign of sediment. However, the body has lost a little fat, making it more subtle than I remembered it. Somehow, it doesn't seem quite as sweet, or my taste buds have changed. The predominant fruit is dark cherry. Tannins are quite silky, and the finish is satisfyingly long.

I put half the bottle in the fridge and finished it one week later, and it is still holding good. No reason to think the 2007 will decline anytime soon.

  • Sun baked balck and red cherry and dried fruits. The palate is smooth and full bodied with a thick texture of black and red fruit with a little grip on the heady finish.

  • Smooth with PnP. In a sweet spot. Nicely layered and balanced. Slightly rustic fruit. Refreshing acidity that is replaced with mildly drying tannins after 60 minutes in glass. I think drink by date is closer to 2024 than 2027.

  • Still deep maroon color at 16 years. Less drying tannins than last year, fresh acidity, earthy fruit. A 20+ year wine probably.

  • From memory

    Color: dark garnet
Nose: plums, blackberries, a little raisin. Hearty herbs and wet chestnut log smoke
Palate: full body with resolved tannins, medium acidity, hint of sweet. Mature, yet holding back a bit on the p&p. Confirms the nose with a nice wet stone feel as well
    Finish: long

Saved some for night 2 as this was excellent and balanced, but showed an evolution in glass that makes me think we're in for a treat with some time to unfurl
