  • What an awesome wine! Roasted pineapple with coconut/vanilla icecream. Golden colour, no ageing, at the beginning of its 20years plus lifecycle. Really perfect balance of a juicy acidity with exotic fruitiness and sweetness. Had it with grilled Pfälzer Saumagen and bread from Baasch bakery Wiltingen - perfect pairing.

  • Amazing. Even people who don't like ausleses were charmed by this beast. It is in a good place. Balance is really good. Minty pineapple and boat diesel. Lovely

  • At Forslundska, after a Pinot Noir tasting with DVI.
Next to Fritz Haag Juffer Sonnenuhr Auslese 2015.
The Zilliken is much heavier, some tropical fruit, a little mint and a detectable amount of boat diesel. Lovely but to be fair, this was quite late in the evening. Stood out as much more Auslese than the Haag

  • Cork, 7.5% alc. 375ml. AP0411. Soft, soaked cork. Bright yellow, tending to light gold.

On the nose, cumquat, passionfruit, wet cork, cream, pineapple, and a gentle smokiness.

Creamy pineapple on the palate. Rich, but controlled with nicely balanced - almost grapefruit intensity - acidity that holds it together and allows the rich sweet flavours to stretch into the finish without becoming cloying. Excellent length.

Opinion: flat-out delicious. Looks even better with air on day 2. Outstanding wine. Still very primary, in an Eiswein style. Full bottles will drink well for decades.

  • Delicious. Really zingy and lively. A whole mouthful of soft fruit flavours, and lovely acidity. Lots going on, but lovely balance. Still feels young, fine now but will certainly keep and has potential to develop.

Drank by itself, PNP, from coravin.

(Weingut Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken Riesling Auslese Saarburger Rausch Erste Lage Goldkapsel) From a 100%-shriveled-berry selection, this Auslese is amazingly pure for its style. After a soft, earthy nose, a crushing flavor of unripe pineapple drops off suddenly due to the high acidity. The Saar: Forging Its Own Path
