Thankfully showing much better than the barbaresco. This had a lot of life to it. I am assuming it was probably some of the new oak treatment which seems to keep wines alive and bright and more energetic once it has time to integrate (although I don’t know - perhaps just because of the warm vintage?). This was very alive and intense and deep. Drinking nicely now but with plenty of time left.

Barolo Tasting (Restaurant Krietsch, Schwäbisch Gmünd): Wines tasted blind. Opened a few hours before the tasting. Glass: WMF red Wine Clear, medium garnet with orange rim. Fine, fully mature Barolo nose. On the palate a bit unbalanced acidity, that makes the wine juicy, but also a bit sour. Otherwise quite complex, nice texture an structure. Good length. Drink up. 91

Decanted for 60 minutes. Opened in the glass. Deep garnet with intense nose of sour cherry, red fruits, pepper and spices Good fruit on the palate and decent tannin/acidity Lots of life left

Decanted off the sediment, then back into the bottle. Very little sediment for a barolo of this age. Peaked at about 45-60 min open, then started to decline.
