Pale yellow in color. Not much coming through on the nose except minerality and metal shavings. Minerality continues on the palate with maybe a bit of citrus. There is a hint of sweetness but this is a dry wine with strong acidity. It has good structure but is lacking flavor. Better with food.

(Johann Geil Grüner Silvaner Trocken) Very light yellow color; tart apple, tart peach nose; tart, earthy, dry, peach palate with medium acidity; medium finish
(Geil Silvaner Trocken) ($16.00) The first Silvaner I tasted, and right away I knew; this high-acid vintage would take the sometimes sprawling Silvaner and tighten him up and cram his pockets with flavor. And yes, it may be a one-off, rarely to be repeated, but it’s a cheap one-off and I think you should pounce on the chance. The wine is super. In bottle three weeks when I tasted it, but no sign of lost expression or vitality; it’s compact, even mineral, thick yet snappy, long and electrically juicy.
