At wine party. Wow. Incredible how the sense of oysters and crushed rocks shines through layers of caramel and honey. Insane texture, like half and half, and long finish. A memorable wine.

Bright golden color, 2 hours in showing traditional Chablis notes, wet limestone/mineralized, lemon notes, some oak remnants, smells crisp. 4 hours, developed a bit more creaminess. More like a lemon curd now, a slight spice note, some chalk/sea shell and goldenrod. It's developing quite nicely. Acidity is a low medium on the midpalate, and id like a longer finish. It's also pretty viscous, an oily complexion.

Started out somewhat muted. Overtime this developed into classic Chablis aromas. As is typical with this producer, the oak is still evident as there is a bit of creaminess on the back end. The wine showed well once it opened. The mid and finish are very full and lengthy. Not my favorite producer in Chablis, but certainly a unique one. Served blind, a few got it was Chablis. In a flight with '04 Pepiere Briords. Paired with spring vegetables, preserved lemon, potato, vadouvan oil.

Quelle texture en bouche: des nuages. Style boisé appuyé, on pense plus à Meursault que Chablis. Ça manque peut-être un peu de tension. Sésame grillé. Élégant.

(Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos) Light canary yellow color; tart, underripe lemon, "boiled peanuts," oak nose; tight, lightly oily textured, tart lemon, citrus palate with that telltale '04 lady bug green note; medium finish
(DROIN CHABLIS LES CLOS) #1; NOSE-wow, celery on steroids, lively & exciting, aspargus, broccoli; TASTE-"WOW, as COMPLETE A BOTTLE of white burgandy/chardonnay as I've had in a long time"; not too creamy, amazing hints of pine cone, clove, asparagus w/ tons of butter, put away for 10 yrs.; "Acidy & complexity, structure, mid-palate, finish all integrate like a perfect puzzle"; VERY IMPRESSED; AM-91/94; GV-95
