  Secondary elements in the nose - Leather, deep dark fruits, some menthol, Earthy. choclately tannins, Mid- full bodied. Dry finish, still plenty of life.

  purchased six on release. Didn't particularly like the first few bottles consumed around 2014/15. But the last two bottles, consumed last year and this year, have improved considerably. The bitter chocolate and oak now balance the fruit. Excellent corks too but a warning. Don't use a monopol cork screw on these tiny corks...the cork screw bent sadly. $30 (on the cork screw) down the drain.

  Inky dark red wine with lots of dark fruit that has matured nicely.
  
  In short, this is a full flavoured (fruit forward) McLaren Vale Shiraz that (contrary to other reviews) could have gone at least another 3 years to make its 10yr birthday to let the tannins integrate.
  
  Although this wine was consumed after a 2000 Dead Arm Shiraz, it was obvious that there was opportunity for this wine to undergo further development in the bottle (and let some of the alcohol to be less present on the nose and palate).
  
  I think that even with 7 years in the cellar, it's performance sits at the lower end of its price category.
  
  Nice, good even, but not sure it's worth purchasing (and cellaring) again.

  Big nose and palate. Lots of subdued fruit in the midpalate, not strawberries or bright fruit but not plum either. Boysenberry was astutely suggested by my wine god, Victor Abascal of Vines on the Marycrest out of Paso (try them sometime!). The tail end has a graphite emphasis. The mouth feel is mid to heavy and chewy with a long finish. We tasted the 2010 at the winery in Australia and it might be even better : )
