Popped and poured. Official start of the 2012 rose season. Deep pink hue, likely from the inclusion of a significant amount of Petit Verdot. Extremely dry wine, didn't pair as well with the Thai food as I had hoped but a wonderful sipper on a warm summer evening. Nose of watermelon, spice (couldn't quite put my nose on which ones) and a touch of cigar box. Minerals on the palate. Balanced acidity which kept if fresh without being too sharp. Crisp finish. Would purchase again.
Friends and I tasted this at the winery on 4/14/12. It had a strong, fragrant bouquet of watermelon, orange peel, spice, and mineral aromas. The palate was complex, crisp and dry with flavors that followed the nose…great minerality. 90+
