Minerals in the bouquet. Same on the palate, some tropical fruits, slightly oxidized impressions, a lot of bitterness from the oak. No idea how this will develop, but the price is too high to buy an extra bottle to find out. There are many Pessac whites which offer a better qpr. Well, at least in this stage. 86?+? for now.
A Night Out with Ch.Cos d'Estournel (Metropolitan wine cellar, HK): Light gold in color, the 2010 Cos Blanc gives out refreshing aromatics of pear, citrus peel and grapefruit. There's a distinctive character that Charles highlighted to us, an oceanic scent, due to fact that the vines for the Blanc are planted at the very northern part of the chateau, absorbing the oceanic wind and shows it in the wine. Rather unique. The wine itself is crisp and fresh. The pairing of the Cos Blanc with the creamy soup of zucchini offered the biggest surprise of the evening, they went ridiculously well together, the wine appears fuller, gentler, creamier, with its fruit profile more pronounced complimentary of the soup. Bravo!
Bland, watery, oaky and just not enjoyable. PnP with friends at home with casual dinner. Did not improve over time or complement food. Maybe extremely closed, too young, or just a dud. Remarkable contrast to the amazing reds from this chateau
Nice nose of citrus fruits, minerals, peaches, and white flowers; however, the palate was rather closed and medium-bodied; apricots, grapefruits, and minerals; though the fruity and long finish with pleasant sandalwood was quite lovely; 90-91 points for now; needed a few years to transform itself.
