Purple color belied its age. The nose displayed cassis, dark cherry, and smokey notes. The palate was in no danger of fading and provided comforting cassis, black cherry, licorice, and smokey flavors. The tannins were fully resolved and the balanced acidity created lovely balance and silkiness to this refined, well aged wine. The finish is packed with dark fruit and integrated tannins. Overall, this wine seems much younger than its 18 years because the fruit is still vibrant; however it clearly benefitted from bottle time because of the silky mouthfeel and resolved tannins.
- Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of hay/straw, moldy and alcohol. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry, licorice anise and alcohol with a medium/full body. Fleshy texture with a medium finish.
