Really lovely. This is on the semi-sweet end of the Lauer spectrum. This is so well put together, with a medium-intense nose of berries and white flowers (just a hint of tropical), and a sleek palate of citrus and tropical fruits. More so than some other Lauers, the racy acidity and serious minerality is fully counterbalanced by opulent fruit. A real winner.
This is nigh on stunning. On the first day the nose surely smelled like the inside a citrus packing house, with all of the wax, peel oil and different varieties and levels of ripeness. On day two, the wine was all about spun sugar (lightly of cotton candy), and slight tropical hints. There was also spent cartridge, and slight melon vine. The incredibly complex nose was never heavy nor gave any impression of being too ripe. Before the first sip I hesitate as I thought the 2009 was good but a little too sweet and at times sloppy. Wow, what a relief and a mega surprise. Any thought of cloying was surely disabused by the first sip. This feinherb wine entered and finished like a prized spätlese, sweet, never overripe, and perky, with plenty of fresh bracing acidity and a long swallow. There is a bit of the tropical coming through and hairy green melon, but there is also mineral, sweet riesling fruit, and a little orange. Damn delicious
