Great fun to taste along with a modern bdx (2008 Fieuzal). The aroma profile and tannic behaviour actually are quite similar. The aglianico fruit's a bit sweeter, mouthfeel slightly rougher and acids somewhat more marked. Liscones oak treament is way less blatant than Fieuzal's. Quality-wise we're almost on the same level. Liscone is a really attractive semi-modern aglianico @ half the price of Fieuzal.

Dark fruity nose with bitter almonds, dark cherries, plum, tobacco, leather, salty liquorice and juniper wood. Nicely structured taste with excellent freshness. High acids, lots of dense, ripe tannins, well-integrated used oak and a long aftertaste. Friends of young tough bordeaux are bound to appreciate this wine. Shouts out loud for a bifteck frites, but also makes a really good pairing with brie de meaux.

Natural wines at a late summer garden tasting (garden tasting): Enormously tannic. Great. For the really long haul.
