  • An OK wine for the price, but not especially complex.

  • Hard to get over the significant oak flavor. Red berries and charcoal on the nose. Decent forest and red fruit flavor but lots of fresh oak. Not bad, but not great either.

  • Poured as a medium to dark red. The nose was alcoholic and perfumy, with hints of leather. On the palate, I first noticed how nicely chewy this wine was. I then got cherries and herbal tastes, as well as rather strong leather and tobacco notes, which gave the wine depth. It had good acidity and the tannins came through well. A long finish made it a really enjoyable wine on a later evening. To me, this is definitely the star of the Epicuros.

  • This is a good example of a round juicy, light fruit, Salice Salentino, the price makes it easy to be academic buy. This wine drinks easy and has good cherry and dried red fruit. A little tart but nothing to turn you off. This is a no brainer for any red sauce with pasta. I've had many bottles paver the past three years without a miss. Any wine with a woody- cardboard smell, wet cork or moldy cork smell has TCA. It affects about 3 Percent of wines. It should be returned for another bottle, I'be only experienced that 4-5 times over 35 years of drinking wine, almost every night.

  • On second tasting, I find this wine is a bit too fruity and jammy. It tastes more like an inexpensive shiraz or cab from Australia than a good rendition of Salice Salentino. I would probably not purchase it again.
