First night notes. Bright, limpid, medium maroon with a little bricking on the rim and a clear meniscus. Thick legs. Initial nose is black pepper, licorice and a faint hit of animal in the background. Nice fruit on the intial palate. Terrific balance between the fruit, acidity and tannins on the mid-palate, with good concentration. The finish is a little hollow. Nice minerality lurking in the background. On the second night this bottle really came to life: the bouquet gained an extra layer of complexity; the structure, which seemed a little disjointed the first night, really tightened up with nice focus and concentration; the hollowness on the back palate filled out. Very distinct minerality that lingers for a very long time.

Showing a little bretty character that I do not remember in a previous bottle. Fruit is still there in a dar and dense sort of way by Beaune standards. The gamey-ness is apparent though and is beyond being a secondary character. Still drinkable but if this is the course this wine is taking they will need to be consumed sooner than later.

Light, transparent color. Earthy, grassy, acidic nose. Cherries on the front palate followed by leathery tannin balanced with good acid. Medium long finish. Drinking well now, will be good for another 5 years at least. Great value for 1st Cru.

At the peak. Good fruit. Opened in an hour and lasted several.
