Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Smells of sweet almond cake, honey, bruised banana and cinnamon. Plump, full, almost tannic on the palate. Flavors of raisin cake, caramel, dates, along with some wood and hay elements. Pure, sweet, silky but stays bright and easy to drink.
Deep mahogany color with some cloudiness. Heady aromas of fig, toffee, coffee, mocha, dates, and brine. On the palate, this shows sweet toffee, brine, fig, and a hint of mocha. The finish is long and has a great acidic lift. Delicious and great with chocolate and nut based dessert dishes. Drink or hold.
Excellent nose. One of those you could stand in the corner and huff all night. Lots of candy in the nose, like caramel and toffee. The taste as like a whole dessert course. Creme brulee and nice spices. Sweet but still balanced. Incredible finish. Delicious. Glenn brought this. Imported by Wine Marketing Ltd.
